Mystery, one of the most successful Flat Coated Retriever bitches in Australian history, arrived in New Zealand in May 2010. She came to help us raise our profile with the breed in this country and be part of our family in her forever home. She has been very successful for us in both!
We are priviledged to have such a wonderful girl come to live with us and will be eternally grateful to Jazmyn Wray and Judy Kennon-Wray for allowing her to come here. We know she is missed! We love this beautiful girl and are proud to have her as part of our family.
Mystery's show career in Australia resulted in 5 Best in Group and 7 Runner up in Group awards, not a bad record considering she had to push past the other successful 'Bushman' dogs to get there! She was No 1 Flat Coated Retriever in Australia and awarded Flat Coated Retriever of the Year in Australia in both 2006 and 2008.
Her showing successes in Australia included: - Best of Breed Sydney Royal 2006, Melbourne Royal 2007, 2009 and Adelaide Royal 2006.
- Best in Group 4th Melbourne Royal 2006 (the first ever Flat Coated Retriever to be placed in Group at a Royal), Best in Group Canberra Royal 2008 and made the final 8 cut for Best in Group Melbourne Royal 2009.
- After gaining her Grand Champion title at 4 1/2 years old she went on to win Best in Group and Runner Up Best in Show the next weekend in competition of over 950 dogs!
Since coming to New Zealand in May 2009 Mystery has continued to be successful.
These successes include: - Completing her New Zealand Champion title September 2009.
- Bitch challenge and Reserve of Breed at the 2010 NZ Nationals aged 8 ½ years and 2011 NZ Nationals aged 9!!
- 3x Veteran in Specialty Show and 1st in Veteran stakes.
- Open in Group December 2011 and Best Open in Specialty Show in April 2012.
- 2 x Best In Group in October 2010 and April 2012
We had decided in mid 2011 that Mystery would be retired from showing but she was having none of that!
Her best was yet to come! On 11th December 2011 under Mr Andrew Burt (Vic) at the lovely age of 10 years and 1 month MYSTERY was awarded RESERVE BEST IN SHOW over a very large field of 750 lovely dogs, proving what a truly amazing girl she is!
We could not have done it without the help of the lovely Debbie Hull handling her for us. We are lucky to have you Debs!
We dearly miss our girl who we sadly lost aged 12 and a half. RIP beautiful. Gone but not forgotten. Lives on with us with her son Riley and new granddaughter Daisy
